Lifescience-online (LSO) is a product of Lifescience-consulting SA (LSC).

LSC is seriously committed to protect the privacy of its users, while providing a personalized and valuable service. This Privacy Policy statement explains the data processing practices of LSC. If you have any requests concerning your personal information or any queries with regard to these practices please contact us by e-mail at helpdesk@lifescience-consulting.com.

LSO recognizes two types of users, which are concerned about this Privacy Policy agreement:

Visitors: persons coming to LSO site, without being registered Members: persons who come and access LSO site as registered users. Note that a member might use LSO as visitor as long as he/she does not uses its member name and password to login into the LSO site.

Information collection

LSO members can view profiles (according to the rules described below), communicate and describe their interests. To provide a B2B and personalized service, we ask our members for some personal information, which allows our users to identify each other and increase their network. We collect personal information about you at two steps, when you:

   * use of enquiry and membership registration form
   * purchase any of our products or services

The elements we collect are including but not limited to: Name, Job title, Company name, Company address, phone number, Home address, E-mail address

LSO also collects information automatically about your visit to our site, including IP address, profile information and browser type. This data does not permit the personal identification of LSO users (non-personally-identifiable information), either visitors or members, and is used for the website management, in order to track usage and improve the website services.

This non-personally-identifiable information may be shared with third parties to provide more personalized and appropriate services and advertisements to our members.

Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

We may use your personal information for several purposes, such as: Providing a personalized service, Processing registrations, orders or enquires, Providing you with updates/news/information regarding our services and products, Using your personal information on behalf of third parties (suppliers, LSO advertisers and business partners), who offer services and products we estimate might interest you (your personal information will not be disclosed to third parties whatsoever). We may also use your data in aggregate form, so that no individual user is identified, to build up advertising kits, marketing profiles or our business plan.

Members may choose not to receive emails of this type by writing to LSC, at helpdesk@lifescience-consulting.com.

You will be asked at registration to delimit the visibility of your profile (i.e. in BioNation, the LSO social networking feature):

  • Visibility Reserved: only contacts of your contacts can get in touch with you. Use this option when maxiumum privacy is required.
  • Private Profile: your profile is set to private: nobody can see your details unless they are in your contacts.
  • Open profile: people can send you a message even if they do not belong to your contacts.
  • Full visibillity: your profile is available to anyone and becomes visible as an online resume. Use this option to grant yourself maximum visibility and publish your expertise on the internet. The profile will also be listed in search engines.

Invitations to Non-members

LSO members can invite friends, colleagues to join the LSO membership community or just to visit LSO site. LSC stores the email addresses provided by members to send reminders of the invitations. LSC does not sell these email addresses to third parties and does not uses them for any other proposes except invitations and invitation reminders (up to three per email address). Recipients of these invitations or yourself may request the removal of their information from our database by contacting LSC at helpdesk@lifescience-consulting.com.

Links

LSO contains links to other sites. LSC is not responsible for the privacy policies of these sites. This privacy policy governs only information collected on LSO.


Correcting/Updating or Removing Data

LSO members may modify or remove any of their personal information at any time by logging into their account and accessing the corresponding features.

Use of cookies

Cookies are small text-only pieces of information the web server stores on your computer’s hard drive and that can be used to help identify you when you visit our website. A cookie stores information about your computer such as IP address and browser type, country of residence, or the URL of the link you used to connect to our website. You can delete cookies or prevent them of being stored on your computer, however this may reduce the functionality of the site and render unavailable to you some features or content. Please note that our web-advertising partners may set their cookies on your computer. Advertisers' use of cookies is subject to their own privacy policy and not to the LSC privacy policy.

For statistical purposes, LSC uses Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, Inc. Google servers will store the information inside the cookies about your use of our sites for the purpose of evaluating the website activity for us. Google may transfer this information to third parties only when required by law and will not associate your information with any other data stored on its servers.

Security

LSC uses appropriate measures to protect members' personal information against any unauthorized access. The LSO member accounts are secured by member-created passwords. However, please note that we cannot guarantee the complete security of member account information, since unauthorized use together with hardware or software failure might interfere with our protective measures.

Data transfer

Using the Internet to collect and process personal data involves invariably that these data will travel on an international basis. Therefore, by using the LSO site you are aware and agree with this kind of data processing.

Changes in Our Privacy policy

This policy is effective May 24th 2007. From time to time we may make changes to this privacy policy statement. When this will happen, we will post them on our site. A user is bound by any changes to the privacy policy when using the site after these changes have been published.
